About this event

Our April event is on Saturday, April 11 at 11:00 am. We will visit renowned car collector Bill Parfet’s private collection, which is located in a green building behind a residence at 6804 Sheffield Road, Hickory Corners, Michigan, south of The Gilmore Car Museum. One of Mr. Parfet’s mechanics will be on hand to answer questions. Mr. Parfet, an almost life-long car enthusiast, has amassed a collection of approximately 70 cars. He is President of the Board of Trustees of the Gilmore Car Museum, grandson of the Gilmore Car Museum founder’s, Don and Genevieve Gilmore and a frequent visitor and participant at major car events. Afterwards, we can meet for lunch in Gilmore Car Museum’s Pedal Car Cafe or Blue Moon Diner, an authentic 1941 Diner. Non-members will need to pay an entry fee of $20 to access the Museum. (Members may be able to share guest passes with non-members.). For those interested, Steve Phelps, a docent at the Museum, is happy to provide a two-hour tour of the Museum’s 435 car collection after lunch. For those who plan to visit the Museum, our visit will coincide with the April 11 opening of “Defined by Design”, which explores 120 years of automobile design, innovation, and American history, highlighted by a centerpiece exhibition of the “GM Motorama Marvels from the Joe Bortz Collection”. At 1:00, special guest Richard Earl, son of legendary GM design chief Harley Earl, will be giving a Motorama lecture in the Heritage Room.
