We have arranged for additional off-site parking of Trailers/Tow vehicles and/or any extra secondary cars at $20.00 per vehicle/PER DAY only ~2 miles (~8 minutes) away from the host hotel at a retail outlet's parking lot. When you complete your Beach Ball registration form here on ClubExpress, you will be asked to provide payment for this parking (we must pre-pay the provider). NOTE: Due to the parking reservation policy imposed upon us, this parking fee is non-refundable AFTER the event cancellation cut-off date (as we will not be refunded by the parking provider).

Tues 9/17 Early Evening: Welcome Reception

Wed 9/18 Morning/afternoon: Nemours Estate Tour
You will be transported in comfort via charter bus to Wilmington, DE (a 2 hour ride) and self-tour a 77 room French neoclassical mansion built in 1909 by Alfred I. du Pont with a separate chauffeur's garage of du Pont family vintage automobiles, and French-inspired formal gardens, grounds and woodlands. A served luncheon will follow at the nearby DuPont Country Club.
Thurs 9/19 Morning/afternoon: Dover Motor Speedway!
We reserved the entire racetrack venue just for our group!. We motor from Rehoboth Beach, DE in our own cars to Dover, DE (a 46 mi, 50 min drive) for a memorable exhilarating experience you'll never forget!
On-Track Activity "Laps for Charity" benefiting the Speedway Children Charities Dover Chapter (included in your registration fee) and lunch with an appearance and presentation from the Track President or a Sr. Speedway Official.
- On-Track Photos of you and your car – Digital Copy Provided to each driver
- Five "gentle laps" around the track at 55-60 mph, safely led by an Official Pace Car
- Group photo in Victory Lane for each car – Digital copy provided to each driver
- This is a private event for our group and not open to the public
Around 1:45 pm, we then depart for free time in the Dover area, or return to Rehoboth Beach.
Thurs 9/19 Afternoon: NEW! Optional alternative event for Spouses/Significant Others only:
Cabaret!, "Love Lessons - A Musical Journey"
Attention "Car Widows!" This first-time-ever Straight Eights event has been created especially for you, as an alternative "non-car" event. We are offering this optional event for the spouses/significant others in attendance who wish to get away from the car-nerds in their lives for a few hours. While your other half is at Dover Motor Speedway "playing cars," you can attend this event instead!
This is a private live cabaret show held at Diego's nightclub with cabaret style seating and cash/card libations available. Lunch on-own before the afternoon show.
Cabaret Description - Ed Peters and Billy Burke have been performers in the Baltimore, MD theatre community for over 40 years. They are now residents of Rehoboth Beach with their husbands. They performed together in international productions of "The Fantasicks" and "Godspell" including Ukraine, China and Japan. Ed and Billy will perform songs in a 90 minute long set from Broadway Musicals and Pop Music to explore the stages of love and relationships. From new love, to lifelong love, to saying goodbye through ballads, duets, and comedy, "Love Lessons" will touch the heart with memories, emotions and hope.
Thurs 9/19 Late evening: Dessert and Coffee Reception with Live Entertainment.
After dinner on-your-own with friends, get ready for a triple header at the Atlantic Sands Swan Ballroom! We are hosting a Dessert & Coffee reception, a costume party, and a live stage performanceby world renown female impersonator and producer, Steven Andrade as Cher, along with her sidekick Joan Rivers !
We'll remind you of this themed event in your Know-before-you-go email so you can adequately prepare and plan your own Bob Mackie theme-oriented costume! We KNOW it will be a hoot!
Fri 9/20 Morning: Lambda Car Club International Membership Meeting
The members' meeting will be held in a Sands Hotel meeting room and hosted by LCCI National Board President, David Baker along with other national Board members. This one hour meeting is your chance to hear about current and future news/plans for LCCI, and a chance to ask questions.
For those looking for some free-time on your own after the membership meeting, Friday is your day! Hit the Boardwalk, the Beach, rent a Bicycle, or do some tax-free shopping.
Fri 9/20 Mid-Day: Free time -OR- optional tour of Dover Air Force Base Museum, Dover, DE.
For those who would like a group informal activity instead of free-time on own, Straight Eights club member and US Air Force veteran Rob Neighbour will lead a caravan from Rehoboth Beach (own cars, 50-min, 46-mi drive) to tour the fascinating Air Mobility Command Museum at the Dover Air Force Base in Dover, DE. No fees - informal sign-up during your stay.
Fri 9/20 Evening: Dinner Sunset reception and live Band at Paradise Grill (Begins the weekend-only package)
This is an outdoor tropical-style venue with informal dinner buffet reception at Paradise Grill, a spectacular "island paradise" themed waterfront venue on Indian River Bay, with palm trees, sand underfoot, and live music. We will have a reserved outdoor area, with indoor options available in case of inclement weather. We typically hold a tail light glow contest afterward in the parking lot.
Sat 9/21 Morning/afternoon: Car Show & Lunch
The Main Event! We will drive our cars to a fabulous location for a car show open to public spectators. This affords us the opportunity to show off our cars and mingle with the locals and other vacationers. Electronic ballots will be sent to your email for voting using your mobile device (some paper ballots will be available as a back-up and for those who are less than tech savvy). Lunch and refreshments will be provided at the car show.
Sat 9/21 Evening: Awards Banquet
